Table for Two Dating Service Under New Ownership

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 20, 2007 — Table for Two (www.tablefor2.com), an upscale Twin Cities dating service that has been locally owned and operated for more than 10 years, is under new ownership.

Matt Goldberg, formerly president of the Stems & Vines chain of local floral stores, took ownership of Table for Two in April 2007. While Table for Two has built a reputation as an upscale, highly personalized dating service over the past decade, Goldberg said he saw an opportunity to incorporate a wellness philosophy into the business that would differentiate it from other Minnesota dating services, and particularly online dating services. His first step in implementing that wellness philosophy has been to provide clients with the option of meeting with relationship coaches who are licensed counselors and marriage and family therapists to truly delve into a person’s relationship goals and how they can be most successful.

“Singles today have tried the online route and are typically disappointed with misleading ads and a lack of security, and many have tried the franchised dating services and ended up being treated like a number as opposed to a person. It’s a recipe for frustration, not for meeting a future life partner. I knew there was an opportunity to approach matchmaking more respectfully, more thoughtfully, and ultimately more successfully,” Goldberg says.

Locally owned and operated with offices in Minneapolis and Rochester, Table for Two is also unique in that it is the only Minnesota dating service that is owned and operated by a man.

“Too many people have this ‘Costco’ or ‘Sam’s Club’ mentality when searching for their mate. It’s all about quantity and mass. But typically that approach ends in disappointment,” Goldberg says. “What singles are beginning to realize is that they need to ‘shrink their universes,’ to connect with other Minnesota singles who are as similar to them as possible. That is our entire focus at Table for Two. We take the time that is needed to help ensure that happens.”

Goldberg says Table for Two, which also happens to be the only Minnesota dating service that conducts a comprehensive background check on every potential client, presented an opportunity to restore a sense of integrity and professionalism into the matchmaking business.

“I knew this business had a great foundation of serving upscale clientele. These are busy and interesting professionals, and they have been craving a matchmaking service that treats them as intelligent, complex human beings who place a high value on their time,” Goldberg says. “Based on my research of this industry, I think that there is significant opportunity to provide a level of personalized service that is missing, both among online dating services, and other franchised dating services. There is a level of integrity that is missing in this industry, and I am committed to restoring that.”
