Table for Two Now Offering Coaching

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 9, 2007 — Table for Two (, an upscale Twin Cities dating service, is now offering its clients the option of meeting with relationship coaches who are licensed counselors and marriage and family therapists to delve into a person’s relationship goals and how they can be most successful in finding a mate.

When Table for Two President Matt Goldberg bought the dating service last April, he said he saw an opportunity to incorporate a wellness component into the business that he says is missing from other Minnesota dating services, and particularly online dating services. By providing his clients with the option to meet in-depth with a licensed counselor or marriage and family therapist, Goldberg says Table for Two is taking a decidedly more holistic approach to matchmaking, one that allows the client to begin dating from a much more confident place. Choosing to meet with a relationship coach, which is an optional, add-on service for Table for Two clients, Goldberg says gives clients the opportunity to build upon the strengths they bring to a relationship.

“Our clients ask us to help them put their best foot forward when they are ready to begin dating. But to do that, it’s important to truly understand what each person’s strengths are, what has worked for them in the past, and what hasn’t, and why,” Goldberg said. “It can be difficult to identify on your own what may have kept you from being successful with past relationships. That’s why meeting with a licensed professional is so critical. They can uncover the roadblocks that have caused a person to be unsuccessful in the past, and highlight what a person’s strengths are and what approach will allow them to be most successful. These are things that can be very difficult to identify on your own.”

Table for Two is currently working with four licensed counselors and therapists who meet individually with clients early on to help ensure they will be as successful as possible when they do begin dating. They discuss everything from non-verbal communication to how to connect with someone else to guidance on self-disclosure, all in a setting that is private and confidential.

“My entire staff has gone through the process, so we know what the experience is like and we know how much it can help,” Goldberg said. “Receiving coaching from a licensed professional gives you incredible peace of mind, and the assurance that you really are ready to begin dating. You go on your first date confident because you have the tools and frame of mind to be as successful as possible.”

Table for Two, which has served Minnesota singles for the past 10 years, is also the only Minnesota dating service that conducts a comprehensive, criminal background check on every potential client.
